Well now you seem to have found your way behind the curtains where we try to hide the secrets to the magic tricks. No dessert for you!
Where shall we begin? Well, the BYFL is actually an offshoot of my original interest of football as an activity. Not good enough to get out of the high school, and up the ladder of the football world, I began organizing flag football games amongst friends so that I could have the opportunity to thwack them about and relieve the stress and frustrations of the world.
Twelve years ago (uh,oh, we have been at this for twelve years? I must be having one hell of a good time!), I ran into the Cliff Charpentier book, Fantasy Football Digest. This was another great way to enjoy my favorite sport. Since then, the BYFL has grown a little each year. Mostly, the slow growth has been due to a commitment to presenting interesting leagues with a quality draft and newsletter in a timely fashion.
A few years back, the BYFL took the next step. A website has joined the package as another way to disseminate information to league members and keep the fur flying all year long! What this means is that the info and news that the league members need and want will come faster and easier to those that can get on the I-Way. Where once email was an oddity, it has now become the preferred communication route for the majority. (Thank goodness, cause Sybil was getting awfully cranky at 1AM on Fridays while I listened to the umteenth message for lineup night!) We have added ways to set your lineup through the website and plan to have you able to see who you are facing without having to wait for a phone call! All and all, just simply more ways to enjoy your football season!
And enjoying your season is what it is really all about! Some of you out there may be commissioners looking for a way to get back to just having fun with the game. You need a breather or just simply want to get out from under the burden of tracking everything all season. The BYFL has been growing slowly for several years now, because we have wanted to make sure that the leagues get their just due. The BYFL handles draft day responsibilities, weekly newsletters, pickups and trades, lineups, lineup changes and rulings needed to cover the vagaries of the game. The BackYard Football League is capable of handling all of the details that can make a league a successful and pleasurable pastime for the participants. The fees are reasonable and the attention to detail is extraordinary. Please drop us an email for more details on joining the BYFL family!
Joining me on the Commissioner's podium is Stickum Setera, who has spent many moon developing his own group of leagues and now throws in his lot with this motley crew. Chad will be involved in developing the entire BYFL universe in new directions and helping to keep me from running off screaming into the night in December when we are writing the articles that everyone comes to expect on our last brain cell.
Finally, thanks to the Bear, this whole package comes your way. Without his diligent work on the development of new projects, this would still be a neighborhood gaming group!
As always, we are looking for feedback and suggestions to enhance the way the leagues are run. Suggestions are welcome on rules, procedures, reports and presentation.
Thanks for stopping in at the BYFL headquarters and hope you find your visit enjoyable!
